Panoramic Salzburg — Above the Rooftops
Discover Salzburg from above on an approximately three-hour walk that takes you from one end of the city to the other, crossing the Mönchsberg along the way.
What to expect
Leaving the streets below, we make our way uphill and follow paths through greenery to a succession of viewpoints. Each reveals a different Salzburg: the old town’s domes and rooftops, the fortress, the river, the new town and the mountains beyond. As the perspective changes, you’ll begin to see how the landscape shaped the city—and how its inhabitants transformed it.
The views are only part of the experience. Along the way, stories bring the buildings and streets below to life, connecting Salzburg’s past with the city you see today. The walk also includes Nonnberg Abbey, a particularly meaningful stop for anyone interested in The Sound of Music.
We descend at the other end of the city, having explored Salzburg both above its rooftops and at street level. There’s time for photographs, questions and pauses to enjoy the surroundings.
Expect an active walk with uphill sections, slopes and steps.
